Trooper Saddle History

English and Canadian Trooper Saddles are very similar, at a glance you can see small variations. Photo 1 is a Canadian Board on the left and a English on the right. English were a laminate sideboard. Photo 2 is the front sideboard of the Canadian, and photo 3 is the English.

Photo 4 is the Canadian sideboard behind the front frame and photo 5 is the English. Photo 6 shows the smooth rear frame of the Canadian, and photo 7 is the welded rear frame of the English.

In photo 8 will show the rear frame of the English Saddle Was a bit Higher Backed than the Canadian saddle. Photo 9 is the English rear frame measures at 81/2, and photo 10 is the Canadian measures at 8. Measuring the spoon height is not a accurate way to identify a saddle, Many of the spoons were turned down or flattened.

The front frame was very similar on the two saddles, photo 11 is the front of the English and photo 12 is the Canadian notice the M stamped in the metal.
